Pairing Wine & Food

While it's true that wine is great to enjoy just by itself, do you know that you can further elevate your wine experience with the right food pairing?

With the vast amount of food and wine all over the world, it would no doubt be a little bit confusing in choosing the perfect wine + food combination. Keep reading this article and by tonight (or, tomorrow if you're reading this late at night), you will be enjoying your food with the perfect choice of wine.

According to Winefolly, here are 9 tips for pairing food & wine:

  1. The wine should be more acidic than the food.
  2. The wine should be sweeter than the food.
  3. The wine should have the same flavour intensity as the food.
  4. Red wines pair best with bold flavoured meats (e.g. red meat).
  5. White wines pair best with light-intensity meats (e.g. fish or chicken).
  6. Bitter wines (e.g. red wines) are best balanced with fat.
  7. It is better to match the wine with the sauce than with the meat.
  8. More often than not, White, Sparkling and Rosé wines create contrasting pairings.
  9. More often than not, Red wines will create congruent pairings.

This week's Grand Barossa Chardonnay is generous and flavoursome, displaying lots of ripe stone fruit with a fine cutting citrus edge. Tastes of lemon and melon with a white peach nectarine, especially on the nose. Then the subtle oak kicks in on the palate, ensuring a fine, long finish.

So get moving and treat yourself a steak of two, as our Chardonnay will pair well with bold flavoured red meats. You sure don't want to miss out on this experience.
